Abstract

261,278. Airey, T. W. May 12, 1926. Addition to 237,732. Boring-heads; boring-bars. - A boring-tool of the type described in the parent Specification is provided with a number of radially disposed cutters 5 carried in slots in the enlarged head 3 of the spindle 1 and adjusted by means of a conical member 9 screwing into a bore 12 in the spindle and engaging bevelled surfaces b on the cutters. The adjustment is facilitated by graduations on member 9 coacting with a zero mark on the head. The cutters are secured by a bevelled clamping ring 6. In a modification, the adjusting member may be threaded into the body at 13. In a further modification, Fig. 4, a member 19 having an enlarged cutter-carrying head 26 is secured to a spindle 24 which also passes through the threaded adjusting-member 28 which is graduated and is turned by means of recesses provided in its end face.
