Abstract

613,261. Reamers. WICKMAN, Ltd., A. C. June 13, 1946, No. 17794. Convention date, June 13, 1945. [Class 83 (iii)] In a reamer, particularly for machining blind holes, with three or more cutting teeth b, the tool body a is formed with a slot c passing through the axis and terminating in a transverse bore d, the slot being formed with a transverse conical bore f with a corresponding conical pin e, so that the diameter of the cutting-edges may be varied by displacement of the pin. The conical bore and pin may be replaced by a tapered straightsided way and wedge. The tools are rigidly clamped in adjusted position by a transverse screw g and a parallel pin h. The taper pin may be screw-threaded for adjusting-nuts and have a spigot sliding within the slot c to prevent rotation. The screw g and pin h may be replaced by a shouldered stud. The adjusting elements may be arranged relatively in any axial order in the tool-body. The tooth-pitch may be unequal.
