Abstract

214,216. Rouiller, V. D. April 10, 1923, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Spray carburettors.- In a carburettor of the kind in which suction is transmitted from the choke tube 1 through a slit 6 and passage 7 to the upper part of the float chamber 5, the fuel nozzle 4 is situated in ar annular chamber 9 which which opens into the throat of the choke tube through a slit 3 and is connected by a passage 10 to a point 11 of the choke tube on the engine side of the slit 6. The air supply is controlled by a valve 2, a passage being provided in the valve through which air enters for slow-running. When the speed of the engine is reduced, the difference in the suctions at the points 11, 3 is diminished, and, owing to its momentum, fuel accumulates in the chamber 9; when the speed is increased, the higher suction at the point 3 draws air through the passage 10 and the accumulated fuel is discharged into the choke tube. The nozzle 4 is placed above the fuel level in the float chamber to prevent excessive fuel flow at slow speeds. The choke tube 1 may be arranged horizontally, and the suction in the float chamber may be utilized to supply fuel thereto from a tank at a lower level.
