Abstract

214,009. Sim, T. Jan. 24, 1923. Bucket plunger pumps ; priming.-In a pump having a non-return valve b and an outlet at the opposite ends of the cylinder and a non-return valve f in the plunger, priming means are provided and the plunger is made of large volume to ensure a continuous discharge. Fresh liquid is drawn past valve b and the liquid in the annular chamber i is simultaneously ejected. A volume of liquid equal to half the cylinder volume is discharged each stroke. The discharge cock (not shown) may be closed and a pipe attached to connection l. Priming is effected by a partitioned trap g, or by carrying the suction pipe in the form of a U-bend to the top of the cylinder.
