Abstract

213,447. Koch, Kommandit-Ges., A., and Runkel, R. April 23, 1923. Pulp, preparation of.-In the preparation of half-stuffs and cellulose, suitable for use in making paper, from peat or other fibrous vegetable matter, the fibres are first saturated with water, then loosened by subjection to heat or cold and accordingly rendered more susceptible to chemical action for the removal of colloid constituents, and finally subjected alternately and repeatedly to alkaline and chlorinating baths. The baths are used at temperatures of 15-20‹ C. and vigorously stirred, and chlorine may be introduced in gaseous form.
