Abstract

526,154. Cellulosic fibrous sheet material. DURAND, G. H. VULLIET-. March 9, 1939, No. 7664. Convention date, March 10, 1938. [Class 96] Plastic cellulosic fibrous material is made by adding mannan as an insoluble flour to paper pulp which is then sheeted on a paper-making machine. The sheets thus formed may be passed through a bath of acidulated, glycerinized, or formolized water &c. to gelatinize the mannan. In an example 50 kg of mannan flour are treated with ammonia gas, aerated, mixed with 50 kg of cellulose pulp and 25 kg. of soluble mannan. The mannan may be reduced to flour before or after being made insoluble.
