Abstract

225,954. Koch Kommandit Ges., A., and Runkel, R. Sept. 17, 1923. Addition to 213,447. Pulp, preparation of. - After saturation with water and loosening by the action of heat or cold, as described in the parent Specification, the fibrous substances are subjected to an alkaline solution of soda lye or soda, to which a stream of chlorine is admitted continuouslv or intermittentlv and soda lye or soda added at intervals the chlorine acting upon the alkali to produce sodium hypochlorite and oxygen in the nascent state, thus accelerating the action. Wood chips peat straw, reed, &c. may be treated, and if suitable plants are selected and the process prematurely broken off, fibres for spinning may be obtained.
