Abstract

213,265. Ljungstr÷m, W. March 22, 1923, [Convention date]. Operating belt forks.-A machine for wrapping rolls of paper for newspapers &c. in paper, jute cloth, &c., is driven from a shaft 12, Figs. 1 and 3, carrying fast and loose pulleys 13, 14. The belt shifter 17 is mounted on a blade, spring 18 on a link 16 operated by a lever 15. The blade constantly tends to shift the belt to the loose pulley but is prevented therefrom during the running of the, machine, by engagement in a notch 20 in the table while the belt is on the fast pulley. When a predetermined number of turns of paper have been applied to the roll, a cam 28 on a wheel 27 forces a. slide 21, through a lever 23 and slide 25, to disengage the spring 18 from the notch 20. The belt is thereby shifted to the loose pulley and the machine stops. The number of turns is controlled by a step pulley 29 from which the shaft carrying the wheel 27 is driven.
