214,187. Berkel & Parnall's Slicing Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Bachman, R.). April 14, 1923, [Convention date]. Variable-speed belt gearing comprises a telescopic driving pulley 25, slidable over a fixed pulley 13, and forced by cam mechanism under the belt 14, thereby increasing the effective diameter of the driving-pulley. The sleeve 25 is provided with pins 28 which slide in a key-way 27 formed in an extension 24 of the pulley 13. The cam mechanism comprises opposed helical slots 44 and is operated by a handle 47. A clutch 19 and spring jockey may be used in the train.
