Clutches, claw.-The driving shaft of a kinematograph apparatus is provided with a sliding coupling sleeve which, when the direction of drive is reversed, is moved automatically to reverse the driving connection to the film spools; the feeding sprocket is loose on its shaft and the movement of the sleeve is transmitted by means of a rod and lever system to a coupling disc for connecting the sprocket wheel to its shaft and disconnecting it therefrom. When the shaft e is rotated in the direction indicated, the pin g sliding in the slot h of the sleeve i moves the sleeve i into engagement with wheel n driving one of the spools, so that the shaft k is rotated and also the sprocket shaft w, through gearing w<1>. A rod r slides within the shaft k and is moved by the sleeve i by means of collars o, p. This rod r actuates through a lever s the rotating sleeve v to clutch in the sprocket wheel y when the pin x is opposite the hole x<1>. The lever s is pivoted on a fixed pin t and is connected to the lever r by a link s<1> pivoted on the pin t'. A spring u is fitted as shown to bring the lever and link in line with one another. Movement of the rod r to the left turns the links s<1> about the pin t<1> and through the action of the spring u brings the pin x on the sleeve v in contact with the face of the sprocket, until the hole x<1>can be engaged bv the pin x when the linkage is straightened by the spring u and the sprocket wheel y is rotated by the pin x. The reverse movement of the rod r turns the lever s about the pin t and de-clutches the sprocket wheel.
