Purifying liquids.-A vessel for washing one liquid with another of different specific gravity on the counter-current principle is fitted with two containers a<1>, a<2> each having numerous discharge tubes b<1>, b<2> which project towards the opposite container and serve to distribute the liquids, supplied respectively to the two containers. There is clearance between the containers and the wall of the vessel, so that the separated liquids can pass away.
