Abstract

210,391. Geyer, L., and Mauthner, G. Jan. 24, 1923, [Convention date]. Laminar springs. - A vehicle spring 1 consists of a number of superposed and interchangeable leaves of equal length and uniform width clamped together at the centre and having their ends freely mounted in supports 14. The clamp comprises plates 4, 5 secured together and to the axle 2, plates 8 arranged at the side of an upwardly projecting block 6 on the plate 5, and a clamping plate 9 having a central downwardlyprojecting portion engaging the spring. These parts are secured together by bolts 10, and the arrangement is such that any suitable number of spring leaves may be used. A curved plate 7 is inserted between the spring 1 and block 6 to protect the spring against fracture. The supports 14 carry rollers 15 between which the ends of the spring 1 are mounted, the upper rollers being carried by pins 16 secured to the supports and the lower rollers by pins carried by vertically sliding adjustable members 18. The lower rollers may be arranged nearer to the centre of the spring than the upper rollers, and vertical rollers mav be provided to reduce friction at the side edges of the spring.
