667,902. Road-vehicle undercarriages; laminated springs. DOORNE, H. J. VAN. Feb. 13, 1950, No. 3658/50. Classes 108(ii) and 108(iii) In a suspension system for a vehicle comprising transverse springs arranged one above the other and rigid with the sprung portion of the vehicle, each of the springs consisting of a main leaf the outer ends of which carry stub axles, the main leaves diverge from their point of fixation to the vehicle and then approach each other by a curve formed in at least one of the main leaves, the ends of the main leaves being rigidly secured beyond the curve or curves. The frame consists of a central main beam 1 having V-shaped ends 2. Cross members are welded to the beam 1 and are united by a rim 4 which carries pivotal front, rear and side boards 5. The springs 15, 16, and a spacing block 23, are clamped by bolts 14 between plates 12, 13 to a vertical support 11. The end of the main leaf 15<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>1</SP> of each spring 15. 15 is forged to form half of a stub axle. Each stub-axle half is united by welding. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the leaf ends 15', 16<SP>1</SP> are welded to a unitary stub axle support and the leaf 15<SP>1</SP> is entirely straight.
