Blocks and the like acting on hubs; hand, foot, and personal actuation.-A kreeoperated spindle brake for yarn twisting and like machines of the kind wherein the bobbin is carried by a tube rotating on a dead spindle comprises a block a, shaped to the periphery of the upper flange of the wharl w which drives the tube, and carried in the upper end of a knee-bracket b, which is slotted at b<3> to engage a fixed rod c and forked to embrace a block d provided with a hook d<1> to serve as a guide for a pin in the bracket. An opening is formed in the bracket in which a tool may be inserted to remove the block.
