Abstract

486,484. Thread guides for spinning &c. machines. COOK & CO., MANCHESTER, Ltd., and COOK, N. June 15, 1937, No. 16547. [Class 120 (ii)] A thread guide in the form of a loop 16, Fig. 1, on a rod 15, for use in spinning, doubling, twisting and the like machines, is held in a mounting 11 of channel shape having approximately the width of the diameter of the rod, and is pressed against the top of the channel by a tightening member 13 mounted in or between the sides of the channel-shaped mounting and exerting its pressure on the rod through a movable gripping member 12 below the rod and movable only to and from the rod, the actual tightening member not coming in contact with the thread guide rod. The tightening member may be wholly enclosed within the mounting e.g. the eccentric 13, operated by a key inserted in the slot 14, Figs. 1 and 4 ; or it may be a screw 21 in a mounting 20 pressing a gripping member 19 against the rod, as in Fig. 5.
