Abstract
519,946. Threadguide for spinning &c. machines. COOK & CO. (MANCHESTER), Ltd., and SPILLER, J. H. Oct. 7, 1938, No. 29050. [Class 120 (ii)] A thread guide and lappet for a spinning &c. machine comprises a guide having a shank non- rotatably mounted in a socket in a member pivoted to a back plate and having another socket underneath with a nip screw which engages the shank of the guide from below and secures it in position. As shown the member 10 in which the shank 16 of the guide 11 is mounted is made from one piece of metal stamped and bent to form the socket 12 having flat faces to receive the flattened shank 16 and a socket 13 which is screw-threaded to receive the screw 17 which engages the shank 16 and clamps it in the socket 12. The member 10 is also formed with a stop 14 which bears against the plate 5 to which the member 10 is hinged and keeps the thread guide socket 12 horizontal. The screw 17 is preferably socketed for the reception of a key and when screwed up, lies wholly within the socket 13 or the screw may be headed for the reception of a hollow key. The member 10 is hinged to the plate 5 by a pin 8 passing through three spaced sockets on the plate and a pair of eyes on the member 10.
