Abstract

669,132. Filing papers. SETTEN, R. S. Aug. 28, 1950 [Aug. 27, 1949], No. 22306/49. Class 146 (i). Locking-followers. -A pressure bar 1 having holes 4 by which it is threaded on fixed filing posts 2 and approximately parallel wires 6, 7 held by lugs 9 so that when moved apart intermediate their ends, their ends 8 converge so as to grip the posts 2, the operating member for moving the wires comprises a lever 11 fulcrumed on one wire member 7 and arranged to coact directly with the other wire member 6 so that when the lever 11 is turned into one overcentre position, the wires 6, 7 are separated. The lever 11 is of channel section sheet metal pressing held on the wire 7 by passing through holes 12, in the flanges 13 thereof, the edges of the flanges having a cam form 14, to press apart the wires 6, 7. The ends 15, 16 of the top of the lever 11 are curved to facilitate rotation of the lever in both directions. The clamping mechanism is held within a recess 3 in the bar 1 and a central recess 5 is provided for the lever when in clamping position.
