208,008. Baumann, K., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Dec. 5, 1922. Universal joints'. - In two-part flexible shaft couplings allowing universal and lateral movements, each part comprises a sleeve integrally united by a. diaphragm with a torque-transmitting member surrounding the sleeve and having a flange or other coupling-means at the end remote from the diaphragm. The coupling halves 3, 4, secured to shafts 1, 2, comprise sleeves 5 integral with diaphragms 7 of conical, disc-shaped, or curved form, these diaphragms being situated preferably near the remote ends of the sleeves and merging into torque-transmitting members 8 provided with connecting-flanges 9. The members 8 may be wholly conical, be connected to the flanges 9 by cylindrical portions, or be wholly cylindrical. Specification 179,769 is referred to.
