Abstract

207,436. Unterberg, G. Feb. 8, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Lighting systems; systems of charging and discharging galvanic batteries. - A combined lighting and ignition system comprises a magneto, a divided battery and a rotary switching device operating in synchronism with the magneto and so arranged that the half waves of current are alternately sent to the two parts of the battery. The lamp circuit is conneced across the battery and a switch may be placed between the rotary switching device and the battery to change periodically the battery connections to compensate for the difference in values of the half waves of current. The switching device is provided with a protective resistance. A magneto a, Fig. 1, is connected to a rotating brush b adapted to engage contact segments c<1>, c<2> which are connected to the positive and negative terminals respectively of a divided battery d<1>, d<2>. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, a switch y is operated periodically to change the battery connections to equalize the charge given to the two parts d<1>, d<2> of the battery. A resistance n is placed between an advanced contact m and the contact segment c<2> to protect the contact c<2>.
