Abstract
206,029. Robertson, T. E., (Power Specialty Co.). Nov. 23, 1922. Distilling hydrocarbon oils; fractional condensation. - Hydrocarbon oils are separated into fractions by passing the vapours from a still through a series of air-cooled condensers. The air heated in the condensers is passed into the furnace which heats the still. The crude oil preheated by passage through heat-exchangers 15, 16, 5 by the condensed fractions, and by the residual oil, is passed through a pipe-still 1 into a separator 3 from which the vapours pass in succession through condensers 6, cooled by drawing air through tubes 8 passing through them. The temperatures in the condensers are regulated by the admission of superheated steam from a pipe 11, and by dampers 17 in the air exits. The air is drawn by a pump 10 and passed into the combustion chamber of the still 1.
