Folding boxes made from special blanks; fittings, external; boxes combined with means for displaying advertisements.-A folding box having a single bottom and an apettured top section 4 with a margin around two or more sides thereof, Fig. 4, is provided with a strut 6 for tilting the box into an inclined position for displaying its contents, such strut being formed from a blank connected to a portion of the box blank constituting or forming part of the rear wall of the box or to a portion constituting the bottom of the box; in use the strut blank is folded along a line which, when the box is made up, is situated at the bottom of the rear wall and along a second line parallel thereto to form two limbs, the end of the strut blank remote from the first line having tongues 8 engaging slots or grooves 9 in the bottom thereof. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the sections of the blank lie in the following order :-glue lap 1, bottom 2, side wall 3, apertured top 4 and side wall 5, and the strut blank 6 forms an integral extension of the bottom 2 of the box; when the box is made up the strut is situated at the line 7<a> at the bottom of the rear wall and is folded along the lines 7a, 17<a> into V-form with the tongues 8 engaging the slots or grooves 9 in the bottom of the box; lugs 10 cut from the bottom engage the free end of the strut and determine its position. In the form shown in Fig. 5 the sections of the blank lie in the following order:-lid, apertured top, front wall, bottom, back wall, and the strut blank is formed from the lid of the apertured top and extends from the glue or securing lap 14 forming part of the rear wall of the box. In this form an extension may be provided on the back wall to hold the lid in an open position or for use as a separate show card and the lid may be cut with a design 22 so that it can be folded as shown in Fig. 4 to form a display card with tongues at the free corners engaging the margins of the apertured top. In another form the strut blank forms an extension from the back wall and when not used as a strut can be folded up against the back wall and over the apertured top to form a lid, the parts of the blank being in the following order :-strut blank or lid, back wall, apertured top, front wall, bottom and glue lap. The lid of the apertured top may be cutto fold and form a display card as described above or it may be doubled back and tongues at its free corners engaged in slits in the rear wall of the box; the front margin of the apertured top and a part of the front wall may be cut away so as to enable the contents to be clearly displayed. In all forms the strut blank is folded about lines 7 perpendicular to the lines 7<a>, 17<a> so as to form reinforcing means.
