Abstract

203,457. Rees, T. July 4, 1922. Back struts.-A safety device is provided for colliery trams &c. by forming the hitching bar in three parts, the centre part b being attached to the tram body and the two end parts c being hinged at d to the centre part. Forked sprags are rivetted cr otherwise fixed to the parts c. which also have holes e for the shackles. If the hauling rope breaks, the parts c fall and prevent backward motion. Horizontal bolts may be provided to hold the parts c in their normal position when required.
