Abstract

Bleaching is effected, together with dyeing, in a bath containing an alkaline oxidizing agent, such as sodium peroxide or perborate, a neutralizing agent, such as sulphuric or hydrochloric acid, and a dye. The material to be treated is placed in cold water and a mixture of oxidizing agent, acid, and dye added. The material is allowed to stand for fifteen minutes in the cold, after which the temperature is raised to 180 DEG F., at which point it is maintained for forty-five minutes.ALSO:Dyeing and bleaching are effected in a single bath containing a basic or a substantive dye or a mixture of these, an alkaline oxidizing agent such as sodium peroxide or perborate, and a neutralizing agent such as sulphuric or hydrochloric acid. The material to be treated is placed in cold water and a mixture of the dye or dyes, oxidizing agent, and acid added. The material is allowed to stand in the cold, after which the temperature is raised to 180 DEG F., at which point it is maintained.
