Abstract
Silk piece goods are dyed fast to warm soapy water but not to hot soapy liquor by dyeing in a gum soap liquor or a boiling water bath with a diazotizable direct dye, treating in separate baths of tannic acid and tartar emetic, diazotizing with sodium nitrite and sulphuric acid, washing and developing with sodium carbonate solution. In an example of the process the tartar emetic and sodium carbonate treatments are carried out in the cold and the whole process is followed by a cleansing treatment and acidulation. Mordant dyes, substantive dyes, dyeing with.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the dyeing of silk piece goods in gum soap or boiling water with an unspecified dyestuff followed by treatment in separate baths with tannic acid and tartar emetic, and includes the same example.
