Teaching small-arm shooting.-Relates to devices of the kind described in Specification 177,308 in which aim is taken at a target mounted near the muzzle of the gun, the target holder being connected to the gun and resting against a rigid support while the movements of the gun are transmitted to a pointer which makes a record on a separate card According to the present invention, the target holder is so connected to the gun that the aiming movements of the gun are not imparted to the target holder, which preferably has at least two supporting points bearing on the rigid support so that lateral angular movements of the target are prevented. In the construction shown, the target 14 is carried by a yoke 15 having two legs provided with wheels 16 adapted to bear on a supporting surface 17. The yoke has forwardly projecting arms 20 carrying a cross-piece 21 having at its centre a hole fitting on a hook 23 on a post 5 rigidly fixed to the gun. The recording pointer 8 and the record card 28 are both mounted on parts fixed to the gun, the rear end of the pointer being also pivoted to the target holder so that the aiming movements of the gun relatively to the target are communicated to the pointer. Bell-crank lever mechanism 34, actuated' by rods 37, 40 sliding in the barrel bore, is provided for displacing the support 30 of the record card 28 towards the pointer when the firing mechanism is actuated. The target 14 is arranged just behind the ordinary foresight 7, which is thereby hidden. In consequence, an auxiliary foresight is provided.
