Abstract

A self-stabilising oscillatory offshore floating tower comprises a cap (10) at its upper end connected by a column (9) to a buoyancy chamber (4) which is at least partially filled with air (13) to provide partial pneumatic damping of vertical movement of the tower. The tower is ballasted at its lower end to make it float upright. The column connecting the cap to the buoyancy chamber is tapered to withstand the bending moments generated by the pressure of the seawater on anti- swell protection devices (not shown) which the tower is intended to support adjacent to the vertical wall of a tabular iceberg (3) for example. <IMAGE>
