Abstract

In a platform for discovery and exploitation of underwater deposits comprising at least one base in the form of a vessel with a flat bottom having adjustable buoyancy and supporting a deck on one or more tubular legs of great height, the periphery of the vessel being formed by one or more superimposed large-bore tubes, generally as disclosed in the parent patent, the annular tube(s) is (are) supported on one and pref. >=2 parallel concentric walls and the internal volume of these tubes and of the space between them and the supporting walls and tubular legs can be filled, at least in part, by ballast. More esp. the vessel has a roof, pref. with openings. The original design is simplified, so that transport and installation of the platform is facilitated.
