Abstract

1457006 Tanks with floating roofs MOTHERWELL BRIDGE ENG Ltd 25 Nov 1974 [5 Dec 1973] 56454/73 Heading E1T In a tank 11 having a floating roof 12 comprising an annular pontoon 13 supporting a diaphragm 14 the latter is provided with a series of radially-extending stiffening elements 15 each of which is of less length than the radius of the diaphragm. The stiffening elements may be of trapezoidal or semicircular cross-section or be in the form of buoyancy chambers each provided with a releasable gas-tight plug. For minor details concerning orientation of the members 15 on the diaphragm, storm water drainage means, support legs &c the Specification and remaining drawings, (not shown), should be referred to.
