Abstract
Blockage of the delivery pipe 18 by solidified metal in an intermittent casting machine is prevented by heating the pipe uniformly. The pipe 18 and nozzle 20 are included in an electrical circuit 15 which when activated, resistance heats the entire pipe and nozzle to at least the temperature of the molten metal which flows from reservoir 16 into mould 22. <IMAGE>
