Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce castings of thin wall thickness or small size at low cost, by filling the inside and outside of a resin pattern having a fusible metal piece adhered on the upper end with molding material, heating the entire body, and pressing the molding material.
CONSTITUTION: A metal flask 1 and resin pattern 3 of foamed polyurethane or the like are set on a molding board, and a metal piece 4 of specified quantity is contacted on the pattern. The inside and outside of the pattern is densely filled with fluidizing molding material 2 such as gypsum paste, etc., and the entire body is heated to high temperature. As a result, the pattern disappears, and the molding material is hardened. At the same time, the metal piece is melted to flow into the vents in the mold. Taking out the entire body, a pressurizing jig 5 is fitted to the upper part of the metal flask, and pressurizing air is fed to press the mold, and the mold is broken to take out the casting. In this method, castings of thin wall thickness or small size may be molded without using melting furnace.
