Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the formation of cavities and produce a titled device at high quality and a low cost by inserting the body part of a tubular electric heating element into the cast iron sheath body to be cast in one piece with a cast iron annular body and disposing the same in the water flow space iron annular body.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of the capillary 1B of a tubular electric heating element 1 is cleaned and activated. This element 1 is disposed into a mold using molding sand of a low moisture content. At the cold time, the element 1 itself is preheated to above about 20°C to prevent the dewing in the mold, the molten metal is poured, whereby the formation of cavities along the surface of the element 1 is prevented. The body part 1D of the element 1 is inserted in a manner as to be covered with a sheath body 4 to be cast into one piece with a cast iron annular body 2 and this is disposed in a water flow space 3. The root part 1E of the element 1 is so inserted as to penetrate through the outside circumferential annular body 1 in the radial direction of the annular body 2. The element 1 is connected to a power source 5 on the outside of the annular body 2, and a thermostat is interposed in a connection 6.
