Abstract

Residues obtained in extracting barium or strontium sulphides from the reduced sulphates, are treated with calcium, magnesium, or ferrous salt solutions for extracting the remaining barium or strontium. The salts mentioned are the chlorides and nitrates, and waste or residual liquors containing the salts may be used. Barium or strontium chloride or nitrate are obtained from the solutions by concentration. Strontium carbonate is obtained by treating the strontium choride with sodium carbonate.
