Abstract

A cardboard carton which has four base portions (10a-13a) foldably glued together at two diagonally opposed corners so that the carton can be erected to full shape from a flat folded condition by a simple unfolding action in which the four base portions (10a-13a) automatically unfold and come together to form an open rectangular base. At each of said two diagonally opposite corners the upper base portion (11a, 13a) is provided with a lug (24) extending from its edge and engaging in the fold between the lower base portion (10a, 12a) and its side wall (10, 12) to assist in maintaining the base in the erect state, the lugs (24) preferably entering openings along the corresponding fold. In a flat, folded condition of the carton, the lugs (24) may enter openings (25). <IMAGE>
