Alloys.-Air-hardening steel alloys, particularly adapted for use in machine parts, die blocks, and the like, contain 0.3-1.1, preferably 0.5-0.85, per cent of carbon, 0.25-1.1, preferably 0.4-0.95, per cent of chromium, 0.15-2, preferably 0.3- 0.8, per cent of molybdenum, and 0.5 to below 2 per cent of nickel. The chromium and molybdenum contents generally vary inversely as the carbon content.
