Abstract

Coke-oven and like doors.-The door fittings for retort ovens &c. comprise a dished door c, which fit's around or within, and seats to, an outstanding rim b on the door frame. The door has a bevelled rim strengthened by angle irons d, and it is stiffened longitudinally by girders e, on which is mounted the usual eccentric lever f for pressing the door into contact with the frame. Both the door and the frame have parallel sides and rounded ends. The channel-iron seating rim b is detachably secured to a foundation frame consisting of pairs of channel-irons with an interposed plate and is strengthened by angle-pieces h. Minor irregularities of the rim may be corrected by wedges k. When the door fits within the frame instead of around it, the frame is outwardly @ared to receive a bevelled rim on the door.
