Abstract

Latches, lift. - A door for an oven or other compartment is provided with hinged arms, between which and the door are springs or other resilient means which are compressed when the door is closed to force it against the frame. In the form shown in Fig. 2, hinge arms 3 pivoted both to the door and the frame carry guide pins 7 around which are helical springs 6 which bear on the face of the door and are compressed when the door is closed. Blade springs may be used instead of the springs 6. In Fig. 4, arms 3<a> pivoted to the door are connected by a crossmember 12 engaged by the latch 8a so that springs 6a interposed between the arms 3<a> and the door are compressed when the door is closed. In a modification, the latch is pivoted on the cross-member 12.
