Abstract
200,655. Molins, W. E. May 29, 1922. Creasing. - Machines such as described in Specification 165,891, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.], for packing cigarettes into an inner wrapper of foil, paper, or other thin material, previous to inserting them into a carton or packet, are provided with a pair of creasing-rollers to crease the wrapping-material along the fold lines so that the folding means may fold the wrapper round the cigarettes without crushing their ends. The wrapping-material is passed down between a roller 3 which mav be of rubber and a metal roller 7 fitted with creasing-blades 16 whereby the material is creased along the lines 21, Fig. 3. The roller 3 is loose on its spindle 4, the latter being driven by a bevel pinion 5 and having a rigid pinion 14 gearing with a pinion 13 fast on the spindle 12 of the roller 7, which is also loose on its spindle and adjustably connected to a quadrant 15 secured to the spindle 12. The bearings 8 supporting the roller 7 are carried in a bracket 9 pivoted at 10 to the framing and held in working position by a latch 11. In addition, an embossed pattern may be provided on the creasing-roller to emboss the wrapping-material with any desired name or pattern. Specification 18552/03 is also referred to.
