Abstract

The content of liquid nitrate esters and blasting soluble nitrocotton in a gelatine explosive composition is reduced by incorporating in the composition a dispersing agent and optionally also a water-proofing agent, e.g. tamarind seed flour or guar gum. Various dispersing agents are specified. Other ingredients include orthonitrotoluene, ammonium nitrate, waxed wood meal, barytes, china clay, rosin, and sodium chloride.
