Blocks acting on drums; energy-absorbing elements.-In motor-cycle and like vehicle brakes, a metal brake shoe E is arranged to engage a ring B of a vulcanized fibre or other non- metallic substance. The ring B is mounted on a flange A<2> having a rim for attachment to the spokes of the wheel, or the flange may be attached by a number of brackets. The shoe may be of aluminium alloy with or without a harder facing. By this arrangement wear is reduced and the heat generated in the softer material is rapidly dissipated, both drum and shoe being fully exposed.
