Abstract

199,158. Hurst, P. E. March 22, 1922. Actuating.-A wind operated advertising device comprises a weather vane c rotatably mounted about a column a. Pivoted to a forked extension d' on the opposite side of the vane c is a member which can oscillate in a vertical plane. The member consists of a vane g and a stem f carrying a counter-weight h which may be adjustable. Advertising or other matter is carried on the vanes c, g. The oscillatory motion of the vane g is converted into unidirectional rotary motion of a shaft p by a cord &c. i passing over pulleys j, j<1> and supporting a rack-faced plunger l engaging a pinion o connected to the shaft p by free-wheel mechanism.
