Abstract
198,800. Wild, L. W., and Barfield, E. P. March 13, 1922. Resistance furnaces and ovens. - In electric furnaces of the kind comprising a refractory cylindrical or other vessel formed with helical grooves to receive the heating wire and enclosed by a second vessel which maintains the wire in the grooves, the enclosing vessel is made in sections or bars. The cylindrical heating vessel a. Fig. 2, has an external groove b in which is wound the wire c, the enclosing vessel comprising three sections d. In the modification shown in Fig. 3 the enclosing means comprises a number of bars e. In both forms the external parts are held in place by a binding of metal or other suitable means. According to the Provisional Specification the enclosing vessel may be in one piece.
