Abstract
197,991. Frood, H., and Alger, H. P. Jan. 19,1922. Clutches, friction.-Compositions for the friction elements of clutches and friction gears comprise woven or unwoven inorganic or organic fibres, or both, natural or artificial caoutchouc or caoutchouc-like substances, and finely-divided volcanic or igneous metamorphic rock such as pumice or dobrite. Examples are given of compositions containing cotton fibres, cork, indiarubber, pumice or dolerite, sulphur, magnesia, litharge, lime, vulcanizing accelerator, natural pitch, and synthetic resin. The cotton fibres may be pre-treated with phenol-adlehyde resin.
