Abstract

Elastic fibres, filaments and threads are produced from an elastomer comprising from 50 to 90% unsaturated hydrocarbon, 50 to 10% of a mixture of monomers containing polar groups and a sulphur vulcanizing medium. Preferably the elastomer comprising approximately 70% butadiene, 25% acrylonitrile and 4% methacrylic acid compounded with a vulcanizing medium and blended with natural rubber latex. The compounding ingredients may be zinc oxide, sulphur and zinc diethyl dithiocarbamate, while the elastomer may be cross-linked with an isocyanate.
