Abstract

197,059. Britten, W. M., and Harshman, C. Feb. 14, 1922. Atmospheric gas burners.-A gas burner comprises a gas manifold 11, provided with an inlet pipe 12 and two series of nipples 13 inclined oppositely preferably at an angle of 30‹ to the vertical. Members 16 secured on lugs 15 on either side of, and spaced from, the gas manifold 11 form primary air inlet passages 17 and are secured to flanges 20 joined at right angles to ribs 21, the members 16. flanges 20 and ribs 21 being made in four parts joined along two central vertical planes at right angles to one another. A series of passages 30 are formed in the flanges 20, the axis of each passage corresponding with the axis of one of the nipples 13. Each passage terminates in a slightly enlarged chamber 31, which communicates with a burner outlet slot 32 located centrally in a rib 21. The burner projects through an orifice in a plate 50, provided with inclined portions 51 to provide secondary air inlet passage 52 communicating with spaces 40 between the ribs 21.
