Abstract

196,757. Crudgington, W. March 1, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-An externally coned sleeve a formed with a slightly coned flange b has slots c terminating in openings d in the flange b and at a point near the edge of the sleeve a. One slot e passes right through the sleeve a. Fastening nuts f are mounted on pins g which pass through perforations h formed between the slots c, and when tightened up the flange b is converted from coned to flat formation, and the sleeve a is forced into the annular space between the wheel and the hub, forming a friction drive and relieving the pins g and flange b from stress. At the junction of the sleeve a and flange b convexities i may be formed, and perforations j are formed in the flange b by which it may be permanently secured to the wheel. In a modification the sleeve a may be internally tapered to co-operate with a corresponding taper on the hub for mounting a wheel having a parallel bore centre hole.
