Flow meters for granular and other fluent solid materials.-A device for measuring the flow of coal or granular material down a shoot a comprises an endless chain b passing round a guide wheel c and having one part embedded in the material gravitating down the shoot so that the chain advances therewith and actuates a suitable indicator for weight, volume, or speed. A guide pipe d directs the chain to the centre of the shoot. Fig. 6 shows two links of a type of chain b fitted with enlargements r.
