Abstract
An artificial tanning material is obtained by esterifying waste sulphite cellulose liquor by any method, but preferably with sulphochlorides. The products may be used alone or in admixture with other natural or artificial tanning substances. According to the example, a mixture of waste sulphite cellulose liquor and caustic soda is heated with toluene p-sulphochloride.
