Abstract

Liquid-meters. - A liquid-meter comprises measuring chambers 6, 7, Fig. 1, which are alternately filled and emptied under the control of valves 8, 9, connected to a four-armed lever 14 acted on by a spring 16. When a chamber is filled, a float 21 closes air outlets 20 in a piston 19, which is then caused to act on a spring- controlled lever 17, one arm of which reverses the position of the lever 14 with respect to its dead centre, the movement of the lever 14 allowing a spring-controlled member 27 and pawl 29 to advance a counter and also giving an audible signal by means of an extension 34. In modified forms, the controlling valves each comprise valves 38, 39, Fig. 2, with a common spring, and are operated by a lever 35 engaging plates 36, 37, and the lever 17 is dispensed with, the lever 14 being then provided with arms adapted to be engaged by the pistons 19. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also a statement that the valve-actuating mechanism may be operated by large floats received in open measuring chambers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
