[Class 116] [Also in Group XXIX] In apparatus for measuring and dispensing liquids, including a predetermining mechanism which is preset and then driven by the liquid flow, a differential-pistonactuated main valve controls the bulk of the predetermined quantity of liquid and an auxiliary valve, in a restricted byepass in parallel with and controlling the main valve, is mechanically controlled by the predetermining mechanism to open at the beginning, partially close towards the end and completely close at the end of the dispensing operation. The spring-loaded auxiliary valve 5, Fig. 1, operated through a lever 25 by a cam 21 driven by the predetermining mechanism, controls the flow of liquid from the inlet 8 through the orifice 13 in the piston 2 attached to the main valve 1 and through the conduits 22, 23 byepassing the main valve to the outlet 6. On partial, closing of the auxiliary valve pressure builds up behind the piston and closes the main valve so that a dribble occurs through the orifice and auxiliary valve before the latter finally closes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a differentialpiston-actuated main valve controlled by a manually-operated needle valve on the main valve casirig and also a filling nozzle. The filling nozzle 41, Fig. 7 (Cancelled) is controlled by a spring-loaded valve 32 mounted on a hollow tube 33 carrying a piston 34. On lifting the valve by manually operating a lever 38, a light auxiliary valve 36 in the tube is lifted on to a pin 37 so that the valve is raised from its seat 63 within the tube when the lever is released. Pressure acting behind the piston via the orifice 71 is thus relieved and the main valve opens. When the liquid level in the receiving vessel closes a bell 39, air pressure moves a diaphragm 91 which withdraws the pin and allows the auxiliary valve and consequently the main valve to close. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
