Abstract
508,282. Delivering liquids from tanks. FEIGL, B. Nov. 30, 1938, No. 34910. [Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Groups XVII, XXIX and XXXIII] It is arranged that discharge of liquids from aircraft can take place only during flight by utilizing for the liquid a container 1, Fig. 1, having a siphon 6, 7 the knee 9 of which is obturated by a valve 10, Figs. 1 and 2, until this valve and a valve 5 are opened by actuating a rod 16 (by means not shown) so that wind, caused by the flight of the aircraft, and entering a mouth 3, can pass the valve 5 into the interior of the container 1. The opening of a cock 12 then permits the establishing of the siphon and outflow of liquid through a nozzle 15. The premature establishing of the siphon is prevented by openings 18 and 20, 21, Fig. 3, in the tubular valve rods which connect limb 7 of the siphon and pressure inlet tube 2 with the atmosphere, but are closed by the valve casing when the valves 5, 10 are open. A control flap 11 permits control of outflow. The siphon is broken by suction applied in leg 7 from a venturi tube 14. The venturi tube may also constitute the outflow nozzle. In a modified form the valves 5, 10 may be arranged side by side, the connecting tube being of V-shape.
